About Berlin Cathedral
The Berlin Cathedral (Berliner Dom) is the largest Protestant church in Germany and serves as an important center for the Protestant church. Located on Museum Island in the Mitte borough, its current building was finished in 1905 and is a major work of Historicist architecture of the German Empire. The building's impressive dome rises 98 meters above the city and is one of Berlin's most recognizable landmarks. The cathedral contains the Hohenzollern crypt, which houses nearly 100 sarcophagi and burial monuments from the 16th to 20th centuries, making it one of the most important dynastic burial places in Europe.
